This Privacy Policy explains how the SKU Pre-Validation app (“the App”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use it on your Shopify store. By installing the App you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we access

When you use the App, we access the following through the Shopify Admin API:

• Store product and variant data — product IDs, variant IDs, SKUs, and barcodes. This is read only to compare the file you upload against your existing catalog for validation.
• Uploaded files — the spreadsheet (.xlsx/.csv) you choose to validate is sent to our server, parsed in memory to run the validation, and then discarded. Uploaded files are not stored.
• Store & session information — your store domain and the access token issued by Shopify, required to make authenticated API requests on your behalf.

The App does not access, collect, or store any customer personal information (names, emails, addresses, orders, or payment details).

2. How we use information

• To parse your uploaded file and validate SKUs, variant IDs, product IDs, and barcodes against your live store.
• To generate the on-screen report and the annotated export file you download.
• To authenticate API requests and keep the App working while installed.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. Data storage and retention

• We store only your Shopify session (store domain and access/refresh tokens) so the App can call the Admin API. This is kept for as long as the App is installed.
• Product data read for validation and the contents of uploaded files are processed transiently in memory and are not persisted after the validation completes.
• When you uninstall the App, its sessions are deleted. We also honor Shopify’s shop/redact request (sent ~48 hours after uninstall) by deleting all remaining data for your store.

4. Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell or share your data with third parties. Data is exchanged only with Shopify (to read your catalog and authenticate) and processed on our hosting provider’s infrastructure used to run the App. We may disclose information if required by law.

5. Security

All communication is encrypted over HTTPS. Access tokens are stored securely and used only to make authorized requests to your store. We use expiring access tokens and follow Shopify’s authentication best practices.

6. GDPR & compliance

We implement Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact,shop/redact). Because the App stores no customer personal data, customer data requests return no personal information; store data is deleted on redaction. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
